Music and Fashion

Music and Music Artists have always influenced fashion. Kanye West, Beyonce, and Lady Gaga are mainstream music artists who have currently made their mark in the fashion world with unique, retro, and eccentric styles.
Can you think of a music artist who started a trend that inspired fashion? If so, name the artist and explain the concept behind the style.

There are many musicians who have inspired followers of fashion for generations. Kurt Cobain brought out the trend of dirty flannel shirts during the grunge era. Gwen Stefani and Nina Hagen (Stefani's follower), set the trend of playful and vivid clothing. Grace Jones led the trend of sophisticated and simple suits. Madonna was infamously known for her daring corsets and lace dresses. I believe Music influences fashion because people who listen to music are inspired by the artists they look up to.

Shakira is one of many artists whom have brought upon a significant fashion statement. Shakira, being Colombian and Lebanese, let both cultures shine through her music, dance & fashion. She would dance to her songs eyes like yours, when ever where ever and Hips Don't Lie with coin scarfs over tight ripped jeans/leather pants and a tshirt/tank or long embellished flowy skirts exposing her stomach to emphasize the movement of her body. Today, the ripped jean look is an especially popular trend.

I particularly love how most indie rock bands dress, for example the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, because they wear stylish clothes but at the same time make it look extremely effortless, like wearing a pair of black skinny jeans with a plain white v-neck and a cool leather jacket on top.

When it comes to fashion and musicians, inspiration goes both ways. Like you said, Lady Gaga is inspired by many designers, and designers say that they are inspired by Lady Gaga's style. Another artist that inspires fashion is a DJ named Deadmau5. He wears eccentric versions of street clothing, including his iconic "Mau5 Head". Pics ->

Lady Gaga has made a mark on fashion because she wears clothes that capture your interest. For example she wore a dress at the MTV Video Music Awards that looked from the 1800's or early 1900's.

Earlier in this decade, and even more still Male rap artists like Jay Z and P.Diddy (or whatever he's calling himself now) brought on the trend of wearing suits casually. Not only in thier music videos or in performances, but occationally a photo would turn up of these artists out on a regular day sporting Georgio Armani.

I've seen that a lot of people love to follow rihanna in her hairstyles. Ever since she cut it short with edges and mohawk inspired look everyone has reffered back to her when they wanted to try it. I also would mention cassie with her shaving half of her head. She didn't start that trend put since she did it alot more people seemed interested in doing it

Well i would have to say hands down an artist that influences fashion is Rihanna. Teen age and adult females all around the country want to dress like her. Girls are getting short hair cuts, wearing colorful lipstick mixing pop and rock chic together. When her album Good Girl gone bad came out many girls got a short bob and wore long black nails. When ever Rihanna starts a trend people follow.

Music and fashion have always been hand in hand. in order to capture the audience musicians have always dressed in a very fashionable way. They also use their sense of style to make a statement. like pink in her time, her hair said it all. Christina Aguilera in her time when she wanted to rebel and show the world she was no longer the goody goody pop star, she started dressing with more dramatic short clothing to mark with statement.

There many music artists that have influenced fashion. Some are Michael Jackson, TLC, and Run DMC. These artists introduced new styles like military jackets,high-water pants and whit socks, loafers, and motorcycle jackets that resemble the thriller video(MJ), the baggy pants and the little baby t-shirts(TLC), and the adidas jumpsuits with the large gold chains and the sneakers. This brought a new style of fashion to all teenagers who i feel demonstate the latest fashions the most. I guess if u want to find out what celebrity that has blessed fashion with their style, look at the teenagers!

Music & Fashion are both part of the media, one is the supplementary part of the other. Fashion is always inspired by music and music moguls. Also, fashion inspires many musicians styles.
