Chelsea Art Museum

W
hat an experience!!!!!

Today we had the honor of going on a field trip to the Chelsea Art Museum Home of the Miotte Foundation. We viewed Marlene Tseng Yu’s Forces of Nature exhibition and Carlo Zanni’s Flying False Colors exhibition presented The Project Room for New Media at Cam, a technology inspired art medium. There was additional featured attraction all of which were equally interesting and insightful.

We would like to thank Ms. Carolin Wagner who toured our class through the museum and provided us with countless information about each artist and more.

Ms. Nieto, Ms. Boulamaali, Ms. Serrano, and Ms. Lasky you have done it again. Provided us with another valuable learning experience!!!!!! Many Thanks

Students please share your experience with the “What I Learned For Sure” community.

The name of the artist I chose was Jean Miotte. The mediums he used were oil and acrylic paints on canvas. My personal opinion about the artwork was very interesting and it felt different from anything I ever saw before. I would incorporate the artwork into my original designs by creating similar shapes and themes the artist used. He was inspired by dance, so I would incorporate the feeling of dance and shapes that relate to dance into my designs.

The artist I was inspired by was Marlene Tseng Yu (forces of nature). The medium she used was acrylic paint on paper. To me the painting represented fire because of the colors used which where reds, orange, and grays. It also represented lava or a volcano because there are hints of gray that looks like ash. It makes me feel that the artist was angry also because of the colors. As a fashion designer I would use the designs as a repeat pattern or maybe even use the picture for a graphic t-shirt.

I was inspired by Marlene Tsueng Yu, the name of her exhibition was “Forces of Nature”. The medium used was Acrylic on paper. My personal opinion about the artwork is that it makes me feel like I’m on the middle of the earth and I’m watching the rays from the sky break the land. I can incorporate this into my fashion designs by making the rays from the sky as lines on a casual shirt with an aqua blue skirt.

The artist I chose was Jean Miotte. The medium used to create the artwork was Acrylic on a canvas. My personal opinion on the art work was that it was pretty good I enjoyed it most out of all of the artwork I saw. Its makes it seem like the world is beautiful even though it’s black and white. I personally like the colors he chose for the artwork. I would like to incorporate my artwork onto my original designs by maybe seeing fashion from a different perspective instead of one point of view.

I was inspired by Mimmo Rotella. The medium that was used to create the artwork was mixed media. My personal opinion about the art work was that it was very colorful, creative, and eye catching. The Artwork that inspired me the most was the collage made with old poster boards, because Marilyn Monroe is my idol. As a fashion designer I would like to incorporate the art work onto my original designs by probably making fashion pieces with different kinds of fabric patterns that really work together.

I was inspired by Marlene Tseng Yu. In all of the artwork she did, she used Acrylic on Canvas. The title of her exhibition is called, “The Forces of Nature”. My overall opinion is that it’s was very unique and it makes me feel like nature can be this beautiful. She painted plants, the sun’s streaks, even one looks like the Earth. She added her own little details in her artwork. I would probably incorporate the artwork as an original pattern on my designs to represent the artist. I would say Marlene Tseng Yu collection is very beautiful. I saw colors that I haven’t imagined to see. Marlene Tseng Yu is the artist that inspired me in the Chelsea Art Museum.

I was inspired by Mimmo Rotella and he was mix media. The median the artist used was that he used old street poster recycled that looked really ripped up. This artwork was really cool and something that I can understand. It also made me think of the 1960s urban streets of New Orleans. I can use this in my drawings by using ripped up jeans and shirts and making it look really old but yet hip.

I was inspired by Carlo Zanni. The medium used to create the artwork was projections. My personal opinion about the artwork was that it was something unique. I’ve never heard or seen someone use projections to express art. As a fashion designer you could incorporate this into our own designs by creating the movement of wind into it.

The artist I was inspired by was Marlene Tseng Yu. The medium used to create the artwork was acrylic on the canvas. My personal opinion on this portrait is earth’s nature because a lot of green is shown on her art work. If I was to put her art work on my Clothes I would put the print designs on my collars and the bottom of my pants legs and sleeves.

I was inspired by Marlene Tseng Yu. The medium she used to create her art work is an acrylic. My overall opinion about her brilliant art work is that I loved how she saw nature, and its ways of the ocean and the green movement, the way she did her paintings inspired me to think of nature in a whole entire different way. I see now nature as a way of art I care about our world more. Out world has so much beauty if you really look into it. I love her work it’s so unique and extraordinary her art work name is called Force of Nature. As a fashion designer I would incorporate Marlene Tseng Yu’s designs by making a dress, skirt, shirt or any type of clothing with her wonderful designs and print it on my outfits to sell and name it after her artwork!

I was inspired by Jean Miotte she had a stretched canvas of black paint. The painting was inspired by music and dance to of my fave things, to me the painting showed the emotion behind a song and a dancer. That burst of emotions could be joy, rage, loneliness, and more. The painting really made me feel like seeing what he saw when he got the idea of this painting it made me think of questions, like ,what kind of song was it? And who was the dancer and what kind of dance was it? To me I see more ballet than any thing else. This I could incorporate into my fashion as two things I could us it as a kind of pattern or I could us it as an inspiration to make dance costumes. The trip was a wonderful experience and I’m glad I went.

The artist I was inspired by was Jean Miotte and Marlene Tseng Yu. The medium that the Marlene Tseng Yu used to create these paintings were paint that almost like a relic (sort of paint), but it kind of looked like watercolor. Also the medium that Jean Miotte used was paint in black and white maybe even purple. In my opinion both artist are unique. I also think that Jean Miotte’s painting is creative, but it sort of makes me feel sort of sad and confuse because you see a woman who looks like she’s crying and you want to know why but you don’t know and it makes you feel really confuse. With Marlene Tseng Yu’s paintings, I felt calm and relax. The colors looked like a waterfall that sort of makes you feel like you’re somewhere else. For her other painting, I felt like exploding with creativity. I had almost a rush of ideas that went into my head. The colors looked like a volcano erupting, but not with lava. It seems to be erupting with color and water. It felt like you can almost touch what was coming out of the painting. As a fashion designer I can make theses paintings as patterns or pictures for clothes. Marlene Tseng Yu’s painting can be patterns that can go on dresses or t-shirts. Jean Miotte’s painting can be a picture on a t-shirt. Or something else they can be is themes. People can create a whole line of clothes that revolve around the paintings.
The possibilities are endless.

My favorite artist was Marlene Tseng Yu, she used Acrylic paint to create a wonderful work of art on canvas. My overall opinion about her art was that it made me feel like I was in Iceland or in Antarctica looking at all the colors shinning though, as a fashion designer am going to try to include some of the different colors used and the different patterns.
