HOW HAS THE RECESSION AFFECTED THIS SEASONS FASHION WEEK?

It really sucks that many designers were not able to show their designs for this fashion week. Because of the recession everything's going out of the regular cost and all we can do is daydream and just pretend we have the clothes we see on fashion shows and magazines. I personally think because of the economy the designers were limited to what should use for their show. Those who were able to present their designs at Bryant Park were lucky. I really like Rodarte's designs with it's all gray and black theme, short dresses, the crisscross details on the clothing and the long plastic like boots. Matthew Williamson's short blue sweetheart dress is super cute by the way. -kimberly perez

Fashion week was crazy.....It wasnt like it was last year. A lot of the designs were not show cased at briant park. Some was in showcased on hudston street. I was able to go to briain park for the first day of fashion week the monday that followed and the last day of fashion week. I went to the fashion with my friends Kimberly, Tiffany, Deleja, Tonaya. Even though we was late and did not make it in we did see celebrities such as ....REGGIE BUSH....Kim kardashian.....Kelly Pikler....the lady from the disney movie gotta kick it up who always say Si Saprede..... and one of the characters from the tv series Ghost wisper.....Overrall i was able to see some pictures of the shoes and i found out that neyo colors are in. A lot of blues..peaches....pinks...yellows...greens...n otha neyo collors graced the run way.

This years fashion week was a disapointment to me. There was not much cover online or in the newspaper. There was a little pictures here and there but no real look inside of some of the collections like done in the past. They used to tell you what was the idea and inspration behind the collection. I guess it just come to say that every industry including to fashion was effected by the ecomonic crisis I Just hope that future show well be better. ON a personal note I did love that Betesy Johnson Collection I LOVE HER AS A DESIGNER. !!!!

i agree with the people who posted comments about the economy and how its affected this years' fashion week. i think it became a second basis topic to talk about just because people are thinking about spending their money wisely. However, the clothing that was displayed was nice and detail regardless, to the crisis at hand. i agree everything was limited but i believe the designers put their best foot forward to unfold the vision in a CHEAPER way.

I enjoyed fashion week even though many designers were cut out .I felt Marc Jacobs collection was like a mixture of the 80's and pop art. Anna Sui also did an excellent job with her pieces. They were very elegant with casual twist.

I think the clothes from fashion week were very nice. I noticed a lot of bright colors this year. My favorite designer collection this year was the Diesel Black and Gold collection. It was simple clothes but had a twist to them that made them stand out from the rest of the collections i seen. The Diesel Black and Gold collection was also something that i could actually see me wearing everyday. I also went to the Diesel website to see the other clothes that they have, they were nice but very expensive.

all though some poeple may have thought of fashion week as a desastor,in my oppoiion the ression did have an effect on fashion week..just becuase the quality of the fabric was changed the value of the work put in to each garmet was still completely up to part..i agree that is was unfair for designers and also buyers that some desighners were not able to be there but in all everything was still FABALOUS!!!!!!

i think this recession has showed that everyone gets effected. it's reality tho, i cant even go shopping like i used too. SMH. hopefully President OBAMA can get us out this rut and fashion can restore to its normal state.

Hearing that fashion week wasn't as big and epic this year was sad. It shows that the economy hits every business and every consumer in America. The Barbie collection was fun for like a costume party. Also, I liked the Charlotte Ronson Collection because it has a lot of plaid which is one of my favorite patterns.

I Think I've Been Under A Rock During Fashion Week. I Didn't Get A Chance To See Anythinq Yet.But From The Looks Of The Video Of You Guys Goinq To Anna Sui's Fall 2009 Collection, It Looks Like It Was Pretty Good. The Show Looked Very Interestinq And Stylish. I Really Like The Bubble Skirts Thouqh. Maybe This Weekend I'll Try To Catch Up With Everyone.

Fashion week this year didnt get as much exposure as it usually gets. Last year it was the anticipated event of the year in my opinion. Our school was even buzzing with the talk of Fashion week. Everyone cut school because if you weren't there then you were going to miss something big. It's sad to see that many of the designers could not showcase their collections due to the recession. I feel that that Fashion Week is a prime example of how this recession has effected everybody. The highly anticipated Betsey Johnson Fashion show wasn't even there. Fashion Week didn't really excite me like it did last year. I'm looking forward to Rip the Runway that premieres on BET.

During fashion week I was looking foward to see Jason Wu's Fall collection since he was the one who designed Michelle Obama's gown for the inaugural balls she attended. I took a look at a video displaying several of his designs and it wasn't a WOW collection but I did notice a certain consistancy of color scheme in his collection. The color that really stood out to me was this really nice lime-yellow in which he matched with black and white prints...I really liked that combination.

One fashion designer that i had admired this fashion week of 2009 was Akiko Ogawa. The broad tops and masculine look really worked for her collection. But what had been an amazing touch was the chunky platform wedges that made her models look as if they were 7 feet talk while stomping fiercely down the runway.

this years fashion week was a disapointment to me. i expected to see Vera Wang, but knowing the economy not everything went how people expected. but besides that my favorite designs were Carlos Miele, he brought many brighness and excitment to the show and the garments were fun.

I DIDN'T RREALLY LIKE FASHION WEEK THIS YEAR, EVERY YEAR IAM NORMALLY EXCITED, HOWEEVER SINCE THE ECONOMIC ISSUES I ALMOST FORGET THAT IT WAS HAPPENING. ON TOPO OF THAT ONE OF MY FAVORITE DESIGNERS(BESTY JOHNSON) DID NOT ATTEND. :(

Even though this Fashion Week wasn't that great, I think that considering the economic problems we are having in this country some designers, like Anna Sui, did very well.
My favorite was Marc Jacobs because his collection was 80s inspired and he used a lot of bright colors.
Overall, I wasn't that impressed by this season's Fashion Week.

I think fashion week this year was a disappointment i saw a lot of simple things and i wasnt impressed that much. Because of the recession i think designers had to spend smart and be concious of when and where they were spending their money. Despite the recession Anna Sui still managed to hit big and express herself and add a lot of detail. She did a good job she found ways to still show an amazing collection during hard times and found other ways of purchasing what she added into her collection. She got the little ribbons and scraps she used for her garments from a simple market in China. It just goes to show you dont need the most expensive materials to have an awesome show.

i have to say that first of all that fashion week wasnt really advertised as it usually is . I didnt even know that fashion week was coming up ...WHAT A SHAME . It sucks that there were so many cuts this year . The designers werent able to do as much as the years b4 . Some werent able to have show their collection publicy . FAshion designers have decided to save money and take pictures of their collection , show it privaely ...etc . The economy has defenitely taken a toll on the fashion industry !SOmethin has to change sooner or later ..fashion may change as we know it = (
