Spring / Summer 2009 FASHION WEEK

The Spring / Summer 2008 Fashion Show is currently taking place in New York City. Many major designers are showcasing their collection. All of the NYC journals, television, and internet sites have published visual, as well as written information about the fashion previews. What is your opinion on the fashion trends you have observed? Do you have any response or opinions about the class discussions we have had about fashion week? Which fashion trends do you consistently see on all of the runway shows?

My Opinion is that these trends are really good and usually more attracted to the young. Mainly because now we like to have the retro look and many of the designers and basing their lines on the 80's and also the 70's, The disco feverish time. The discussions we have in class is very useful because it helps us to know we are getting into and whats the latest in the fashion world. It also gives us a chance to talk about something that we interested in and to discuss what we think and how we feel.I noticed lately a lot of like 60's,70's and 80's trend on the runway but mainly retro well basically 80's evryone is starting to bring the bright colors and the shoulder pads back. so that basically it for now.

I really like the styles that are coming down the runway this season. I especially love PATRICIA FIELD's collection. Her line was very outgoing. It was like if, Asia--Paris--A Vintage Store and Katy Perry's "I kissed a Girl" had a baby it would have been her collection. I really love the flamboyance that the silhouettes gave off and the flirty attitude the prints gave... I thought it was really great and want to share this with you all, so, go check it out at:

ENJOY! :}

some one in class had said that most of the designs had stripes and some lines had loose-fitting clothes. i like the different trends, but i would really like the stripes trend. i saw a tyra show before and someone there gave an advice saying that the thinner the stripes the better you look in them, and i feel that is true, because i think i would look thinner if i wore stripes that are thin.

Fashion week was amazing this year.I think that project runway definetly took over.What im seeing in most of fashion week is ruffles.Ruffles;Ruffles;Ruffles.In many of the designers lines the ruffles are not like the ones we wear.In fact; they have more volume;more sturcture;and fancier.The ruffles remind mee of colonial times && so do the skirts.The skirts are not pencil skirts anymore instead they are bubbly;swingy;skrts paired with ruffles ;a waste belt ;or an elegant collared shirt.i;ve noticed that every designer had that very girly look instead of punk.My favorite line was oscar de la rentas.His designs were amazing.

The trends that are appearing now has a type of quality that most people dont find in stores. The biggest trend now has a retro 80s apeal to it, but with these designers you can see it more. Designers are taking into account of making outfits that us as a people can put together by just looking in our closet or by going in our parents clothes and cutting pieces of items into something really nice........Now refering back to the class discussion there might not be a lot of diverse models but you cant blame the designer. The designer does have say in who chooses the models but there are no one challenging the designers to make the runways more diverse.......On the runway shows there are a lot of bright colors flowy long pieces with a boyish but still glam look to them.

I love so many of the trends i just cant wait till spring to show them off. I feel that each designer has a different aspect for spring which brings more to the table but what most of them have in common is that it is going to be a colorful and bright spring when it comes to the clothing. i also feel that many designers have added a retro feel like Marc Jacobs with his modern 40's-50's garments.

I saw a lot of waist cinching belts. I saw a lot of bright colors, silk, beads, fringe, lace. I think the collections i've seen are great. The colors i see repeatedly are greens and sort of a teal color, as well as orange and pink. The vibe is very spring/summer.
