Draping Week 5


This week we completed our Basic Skirt Drape! The picture to your left is a 3/4 view of a basic skirt drape. By looking at this picture can you list and identify the name of 8 important details that helped you drape the basic skirt?

casual sports wear is everyday wear that you wear to work outside any where some examples are dresses, slacks, blouses,and jackets. mostly you see people wearing casual sports wear is going to a job. recently we did an assignment based on casual sports wear i found iy a good assignment. me i personaly perfer urban wear but casual is nice

*seam allowance
*labeling the crooswise grain and the lengthwise grain(identifying the grainlines)
*truing
*blocking
*CLosing the darts the right way and pinning it correctly as well
*lining up the drap to the body parts of the bodice such as the princess panel center front center back,
*pinning the whole drape its self correctly
*knowing what to measure on the bodice and converting it to the musilin

8 basic things which helped me drape the basic skirt were:

1. Grain Lines and style tape.
2. The measurements taken for both the princess and the center of the princess panel.
3. Pinning and placing the darts along the princess and at the center of the princess panel.
4. Truing
5. Blocking
6. Adding the right measurement of seam allowance
7. Aligning the skirt with the bodice and then pinning both pieces together.
8. Hemming along the two-inch mark.

3. Placing the muslin on the dress form correctly.
4. Aligning two darts were with the darts from the bodice.
5. Aligning two darts with the princess line.
6. The pinch of ease.
7. Trueing and blocking.

Eight improant details in constructing the basic skirt are . .

- pulling the lengthwise & crosswise grainline.

- Blocking.

- Trueing.

- The correct way to pin your pattern.

- Knowing the darts & where there suppose to be placed.

- How much seam allowance should be giving to cut your pattern.

- IMPORTANT : to line up your drape correctly on your bodice.

- how much pinch of ease dhould be picken up.
