I love Him, he owns Balmain and personally i love his clothing, so many celebrities have worn his clothing. I would totally wear his clothing because its looks so expensive and stylish, i think it would rock those dresses.

The type of designs he has made are unique, personally what stood out to me when his friend describes him as a confident but also doesn't sugar code how he is. I would describe Oliver as ambitious because Oliver has a aggressive and strong stride desire for a d when it comes to success, fashion shows, achievement etc. this could specifically could help in the future is to be honest and to strive for what I want and need.

'there is no traditional preparatory sketching and no draping on a model“
This statement inspires me because it shows me that you don’t have to be good at sketching or draping to be successful.I can take this into my personal educational growth by not worrying so much on the sketch and prefect the finally garment. i feel like i focus so much time on trying to perfect my sketch that i don’t do so well on my garment. I liked how on the day of the collection there was nothing done and on the racks, yet no one was rushing or freaking out. i also noticed the environment of the work space was light heart. i feel like the fashion industry has such a negative connotation, in the sense that everything is strict and boring.

I think that the fact that Oliver is such a young but successful fashion designer is beyond amazing. He is very resourceful when it comes to making alterations with his designs so that they fit the desired look he wants. I also find it interesting that if he wakes up and is inspired by some clothing from a different time period or something that he is able to sketch out an idea and by night his design is created and being fit on a model to wear. I would describe Oliver as very motivated and devoted to what he does and very artistic, as well. His designs are high-end and very creative with how he chooses to create it.

one statement that caught my attention was "basically, either you like the style or you don't. You cant go hmm." this statement is saying that you have to know what you want or like In order to continue. this inspires me because it shows me that you have to put out clothing you are completely sure and passionate about. you cant put out something you aren't comfortable with. in this documentary I noticed that although everyone was tired and stressed, they managed to keep a positive mindset. this is because they don't want to effect the people around them nor effect the work they are doing on the clothing. these things can help with my educational growth because I can see how its like to be a fashion designer. it isn't easy but I can say that It is well appreciated greatly emotional overall.

@shanila i think the fact that he can sketch something and THAT night it is being fit onto a model is just incredible. i also found out that he was only 25 when he took over Balmain which is very inspiring.

@ Azarah I admire your reflection that reads "in this documentary I noticed that although everyone was tired and stressed, they managed to keep a positive mindset". This is a meaningful reflection that will benefit you positively in all endeavors in your life.

Ms. David's Virtual Classroom said...

@ Cheniya I agree true friends are honest and do not "sugar coat" their feelings about you.

Ms. David's Virtual Classroom said...

@ Shanila Olivier has a STRONG team that MAGICALLY with hard work help him produce his vision in 24 hours or less.

Ms. David's Virtual Classroom said...

@ Chelsea M. You are correct a designer does not have to know how to draw perfectly to materialize their vision.

I agree with shanila on the fact that him being young as a start now he will have alot in the future to live for and so many opoturnities coming his way, when it comes to who is work part of his life dealing with fashion he is resourceful, fierce, aggressive when it comes to his work to achieve and complish his work!!!

Overall he is very inspirational because he so young and talented to be making collections and having such great support from his team and even celebrities that enjoy his fashion. He inspires me to be yourself and fashion can be a way of showing who you are and bringing something that people have not seen before. This helps me grow into focusing more on fashion and developing many different ideas and becoming as big as him.

Statement: “When I joined one manager had been here 25 years. I thought, ‘Gosh, she’s been taking those stairs for 25 years. How does she do it?’. I’ve been here 17 years. And I don’t feel I’ve done the same thing for 17 years.”,
Patricia
What inspired me specifically about the statement is that she feels like she hasn’t been doing the same thing/ the same job for almost two decades. As fashion evolves so does the job she is given at hand. It shows you that when you are doing something in the fashion world, or in the world in general, you don’t wanna be comfortable all the time. This relates to my personal growth because you wanna be able to try new things that's different from your norm. You should try something different as time goes along. For example, if I'm constantly doing a red sheath dress, then I should try and do a purple shift dress. You should want to do something that you’ve never done before and learn from that experience.

Unknown said...

the statement made was ''when you get to develop ideas and see people share them and wear them then you get feedback it feels amazing'' also '' Olivers personality is outside of his fashion sense and you see that in his work'' these two statements both mean that hes able to function and get feedback from his amazing work even at his young age in the fashion industry . his work is beautiful and amazing and its cool how he has such icons such as Rihanna actually wearing his designs. both statements show how he works really hard rushing things in on runway days and he still is producing amazing designs and pieces of clothing that has the entire world talking about it and loving it.

@Chelsea M. I love the statement that you chose because i shows you that in order to succeed not everything has to be perfect. But, also shows you don't have to follow tradition or the "regular" ways of fashion in order to be successful. As long as it's done professionally and neatly, that's all that matters.

Anonymous said...

I totally agree with this quote because doing the same thing/job for months will eventually become boring so you always have to switch it up

Statement: “Media discovered his dresses in raffia Retton and plastic inspired by chairs in Miami “

This quote inspired me because I never really noticed that we can make clothes or accessories out of anything. This statement made me start looking around my room and noticing how much things can be an inspiration for a dress or jacket. In the documentary Olivier made a plastic beautiful dress, inspired by a chair and it’s color. This can help me in the future and personal educational growth because when ever I’m stuck, I could just look around and use my resources.

Jalene Espinal—“Pierre Balmain passing through torch to Olivier Rousteing, copy and paste”. You can see how of an inspiration Balmain is to Olivier and how he’s dedicated to make sure you see certain ideas through his work. His style is so unique and you can see in the video how much time and effort they take to make it perfect. Mainly the fact that he looks up to Balmain so much shows a lot about him and how serious his work and how he wants it to be taken serious since Balmain was so famous. Also because he had his demands you can see in the documentary how hard people worked and how they stood there for hours to perfect things even if they were the smallest inconveniences.

Anonymous said...

Thank you for pointing out this statement because I always feel like my draping pattern and drawings have to be so perfect when in reality it doesn’t have to

I love how the teamwork is so strong up to the point where his teammates can go against him some time but still they work really hard together. I’m very surprise how they start from 0.3% into done in one week time. And the team split up the work so the progress is more faster and that how they were able to finish it in one week time.

Anonymous said...

This was also another statement that also stood out to me. The amount of work they have to do and the fact that they sit there and keep their eye on it
For so long is really interesting. I could never be able
To do that myself.

One quote that really stood out to me by Olivier Rousteing was "When you become controversial, when you want to promote new ideas, you need to be the face of it and not be scared. I like people who are powerful, confident, and fearless". It took me a while to understand this quote but after watching this video i noticed that there are many meanings that go with this quote. i feel like this quote means you need to be confident in the choices you make, always, or it will never work.On the other note, after watching this documentary, Olivier Rousteing is an outstanding fashion designer and shows a lot of passion towards his designs.

Anonymous said...

The statement was "when you get to develop ideas and see people share them and wear them then you get feedback it feels amazing". This is showing how hard Oliver Rousteing is working to create these gorgeous pieces, and when he sees people enjoy them he knew there was a purpose for him designing it. So I feel like this statement means that you need to feel good about any decisions you make for yourself which is difficult, but when it happen's it is a beautiful thing and feeling.

He has energy and his work is really powerful, he takes over an old French fashion house. He’s very determined through his work. He inspires me because hard work really pays off and that’s what he did he belived himself and mad people happy. This also inspire me because When I’m working of my designs yes I feel like going up cause I be stress but he shows me that anything is possible and that you don’t have to give up and it all pays off honestly. Him and his team mates really be up to making designs for famous people and I’m glad his know is known. Olivier is very talented.

what inspired me was that he was a young and very talented designer and he took many risk with his collections. i loved how he incorporated a design of a chair that he saw from miami and cuba and just decided to do that into a garment. his garments as well are also so inspiring and empowering for women, i know many women in New york would say i want to be that girl wearing Olivier Rousteing. overall he's an amazingly talented designer and you can tell he puts such hard work abd passion into his designs by just looking at it.

Wow. I love Oliver Rousteing design. He is Extremely talented. Something that inspired me was when he was able to stay up all night making sure that the the dresses was completed and neat and how he put the belts together to make it as a dress. One thing that helped my personal educational growth is not to give up what I truly want and to not let anyone tell me that I can not do it... at any age. Because when Oliver mom told him to not be an designer. He ignored her and now he is successful. One quote that stood out to me was "If you love your collection, then everyone would love it too."

What inspired me about the French Fashion Designer Oliver Rousteing is that he is a young and black French Designer who makes very Fashionable items for for people all over the world including Rihanna and manna more Celebrity, Also he likes to play with the design and the colors and how every gown is supposed to look. Watching the Documentary about The company Balmain helped me with my personal education growth by being Determine to go for what I want especially when I'm thinking of having my own Fashion line/ Brand you have to really want something and have people by your side that's going to help you and not destroy you and tell it how it is.

Mia Jackson said...

One thing that really caught my eye was when the narrator was mentioning all of the model's garments based on a vibe or mood that was represented in the garment. As well as when Oliver was saying when he was in the car about how his garments represent him. I always get inspired when it comes to people really making what they create theirs and they are represented in what they create. His style overall is so rigid and empowering, that even the models felt the vibe of the garment right when they first put it on and that is something that I would want anyone to feel if they ever have worn anything from me. - Mia J

I love how passionate and hard-working Oliver Rousteing is. You can really tell that he loves his work and cares about what he is doing. I also love how he incorporates Pierre Balmain's original works into his garments, he uses the same silhouettes and ideas. Balmain is definitely a new favorite house of mine now.

Anonymous said...

''Balmain is independent the teams small and united around its very young designer OLIVIER ROUSTEIN. This 28 year old is a ball of energy and ideas. New generation, a new way to make fashion."
What I extracted from this statement is the way newer generations are shaping the future whether that comes down to anything in general, not just fashion. This statement from the Balmain documentary can aid my personal educational growth as coming from a more present generation, our new ideas and exposure to things older generations weren't, can be implemented into my school work as I am able to see more perspectives and other people's ideas to contribute to my own to create a design in Fashion class that incorporates styles that were incredibly popular from previous years into designs and styles that are seen more often now or that can even influence how former authors can impact the writings of more recent generations within the books I read for ELA. Another example of how this statement can help my personal educational growth is how I apply historical context to current major political events or economical situations to see how history truly does repeat itself but certainly in some different ways as the causes might be slightly different.

Anonymous said...

@Miaya Irish, I loved the statement you chose and how you interpreted it, I do believe it's important to take the sense of being controversial into something positive as being fearless about it sparks new ideas other people might be too scared to share with the world.

“If we stress we do poor work You have to be precise and you can’t be if you’re stress”- Olivier Rousteing atelier

This statement had inspired me and can help me with my personal educational growth. This statement inspired me because it allows me to stay calm and not to panic so that I can be a strong and accurate worker. This statement can help me with my personal educational growth because whenever I feel the need to panic over a problem, I can remain calm and collected and eventually overcome it. When I stay tranquil my train of thoughts are gathered and not scattered everywhere. As a result my work would come out clear-cut, rather than sloppy and messy.

Anonymous said...

@ Sumarah I liked how you interpreted the quote by saying that it meant that young people impacts the future. This is because since we are the future our actions can help build a better economy for the generations behind us. Also ,how we can start new trends for younger generations to follow. For example you using past historical context for your political events to see how they will play out. By you doing this we can find solutions for problems.

@Kimberley Smith
I like how you said that when you start your own fashion line/ brand you want people by your side who will tell it like it is and will be there to help you. I agree with this because there are so many people in this world who want to take others down. So I like how you said that you want to surround yourself with a great team so that you can accomplish things like the company Balmain.

Oliver Rousteing is a very independent and hardworking fashion designer. It's very inspiring how hard he works for his career and how far he has came. Many celebrities have worn his clothing and they look amazing in it his work is very unique and I love it. It is so inspiring how young he was and that he was only 25 when he took over Balmain. I love how when he thought of an idea for a design he sketched it right away then right after he already started working that is amazing to me and he puts so much passion into his designs. This documentary showed me what it's like to be a fashion designer it looks very stressful and is a lot of work but it also looks like so much fun. He has so many positive things coming for him in the future.

“How to strut perfectly in the worlds tightest belt”. This shows how dedicated the models are to doing their job. The fact that they have to walk around in something that isn’t that comfortable shows a lot on how serious they take this job of theirs.

@Zaida I completely agree with you when you say not to let anyone tell you what to do with YOUR life even if it's your own mother it doesn't matter because you're suppose to do what makes you happy because you matter the most.

He’s very inspirational. He’s had different kinds or celebrities wearing his brand his clothes. Ofc everyone’s favorite of all Rihanna. But it’s very cool what he’s doing it must take a lot of skill and hard work especially for man in the fashion industry. It’s very inspiring, it makes me think about getting more into designing my own clothes. Take my clothes and add a little flavor to them. I mean you gotta start somewhere. The motivation and dedication he must put in to his work. He must work very had for what he does and those models must work especially hard too walking in clothes that are probably not so comfortable. It’s nice to see someone be happy and content with there job careers and what there doing it’s very motivating and makes you see things in a different light.

“Olivier is nothing like the image he conveys. He’s a person who is very shy…he always comes off as very confident but he isn’t at all. In some ways he’s extremely fragile but he’s also very determined to be where he is at his age.”

This statement by Olivier’s consulting stylist Luca, resonated with me the most. It stood out to me because when I think of these amazing, and talented people who are successful at running these huge fashion houses I often forget that they are still human beings like me. Which means they can experience being shy and still doubt themselves at times just like everyone else. I too feel this way at times which makes Olivier all the more inspiring to me.

Anonymous said...

@Kimberly S, I agree with your statement of needing to have talented people who are hard working by your side because that's how Olivier was able to complete all his shows and garments in such a limited amount of time.

It really impressed me how profound Oliver Roustien grew the brand, Balmain. He's inspired many, dressed many, all from a simplistic yet intricate idea that made his success and designs very unique. His team grew very large, and it shows how in the world of fashion you always need a team of people to add to your brand, wether its something in the details, marketing, fitting, draping or craftsmanship. Many celebrities have worn Balmain, but its not what defines Roustien's success. His success was his devotion to not quitting for over 25 years of being in the industry. His success was his designs, and the fact that his designs are so worldwide that they boomed in the Balmain brand. He has multiple shops and fashion houses all in the works of Balmain. Roustien has adapted a certain style over the years working with the Balmain label. You can tell its a Balmain when you see it, you associate Oliver with the world renown brand.

@Chealse M I agree with your statement about being in the industry you expect a person to be or act a certain way, when in-fact you sometimes forget that they are human too. It inspired me in a way because, it shows anyone can accomplish anything based on an idea thats truly yours.

" One of the powers of fashion, you look in the mirror and suddenly feel strong and empowered. "

This is so true. People tend to put on faces/expressions to push themselves into having a good productive day, despite whatever is going on in life. Faking it until you make it. Your day could be lined up with the most difficult tasks to knockdown. But wearing a bright color resembling energy and happiness or leather to channel your inner bada**. Looking in the mirror as a reminder, you got this!

"his dresses in raffia Retton and plastic inspired by chairs hed seen in Miami and Cuba"
This quote made me think that you can get inspired by everything, literally, everything. So whenever i feel like i dont know what to design, i could just design something based on my mood or something ive seen that caught my eye. Another quote that inspired is "if you stress, you do poor work." this quote can help my personal educational growth by calmly doing my garment so i can finish it on time. When i stress about my garment i tend to do many things wrong and end up not finishing it.

"if you love your collection then everyone would love it too."
This quote means if you show pride in your work people will admire it. This quote can stood out to me because it's true and it applies to me. when i do a project an i'm excited about i do amazing in show casing the work. when i'm not proud of the project or i don't like the topic its harder to get people interested in it. This will help me with my personal educational growth because it will remind me to always to be proud of my work. Over all this video was inspiring for me. The team work the determination and most important positive attitude.

The statement that caught my attention was “Basically either you like the style or you don’t you can’t go Hmm every collection has a particular mood”. This caught my attention because it shows me that as a young designer if I wasn’t to persuade my career as a designer I have to know that not everyone is going to like it however is my collection which means that it will represent who I’m as a designer he is determined and a great leader he had some ups and downs but his leadership and determination for his designs helped him accomplish his goal. This helps my educational growth because now I know that having a collection that represents you and your feelings I love how he worked hard for his collection and by him being determined it helped him accomplish his goal and a gorgeous collection.

The statement that caught my attention was " This show is for her, this show is her, she's Balmain woman, my muse " when he was panicking about Rihanna not being there. Even though his idol didn't make it, the show still went on. Everyone's hard work, from worrying about cutting through the netting, coloring a dress with marker, even getting an injury while constructing a garment was still presented and he was still happy and relieved that his teams work and his designs came to life. This helps my educational growth because, even if someone really important to you doesn't show up on time or at all, you need to remember that you did everything for you, you should be the #1 person proud of yourself. I love how passionate and driven he was about his work.

-Gianna Martinez

When watching this something I took from it was "if you love your collection everyone will" and I think this does not only apply to fashion but as to life as a whole because if you put your all into something and you love it people can tell and will feel that to. Rather to if you didn't try at all and didn't put your all into it. But while watching Oliver Rousteing it was crazy seeing someone so young put so much into his collection and have so many great ideas it was truly inspiring because that's what I want to do in future and it showed if you put the work in, have great ideas, and love what you do people will notice no matter what age your are. Also, seeing someone so young that took over such an amazing brand and people showing him so much respect despite his age was truly something I wish to touch in the future. Something else I took away from this video was how much work and effort goes into actually having a final result on the runway because you would see how close they would be cutting it and still change something about a garment to make it perfect. For example the yellow dress was a last minute change just days before the show and interns spent days dying the dress just with yellow felt tip markers. To wrap things up Oliver Rousteing is an amazing designer for being so young and has has an amazing gift to vision such garments in his head.

The main thing I picked up from watching this documentary is his confidence and charisma. He’s 100% confident in his brand , and his vision. And I think thats a main part of his success. He’s also an incredibly hard worker and seems to adapt to any situation he has to face. I admire this about him. The fact that he was able to improvise the yellow dress so quickly shows how adaptable he is. I also observed how high standards he has for himself just based off the way people treat him. He’s young but many people admire him and look up to him, and it seems he doesn’t let anybody in the industry push him over. - Rachel Perez

Who is Oliver Roustein? Hes very young for doing what he does. Hes shy and fragile his closest friend says. I've observed that hes very impatient and if his ideas aren't created at the past he wants them to be done he moves on to another idea. I've also learned that its very stressful and that there's alot of things that go into making a fashion show and its not only Oliver Roustein its so many there people that contribute to a show.Ive also learned that hes very connected with all of his models and very hardworking. The main thing i took from here is that hardwork shows. If you spend alot of time and effort inro your garment compared to nun at all it all show.

I honestly learned a to from this documentary. You can clearly see the hard work, the confidence, the anxiety, the fear, but overall everyones pride. They all worked as a team to get everything done, and that is one of the many things I respect about teamwork. They never let someone in their team go down on their own, instead they pick them back up and help them push through. That was very inspiring to me and it reminded me why I love all the teams I am personally a part of. I really related to when someone mentioned "If you stress out you do poor work." When I am under stress, I eventually get irritated with what I am doing, and I put in only half effort simply to get it done and over with. You can never do your best when you're constantly worrying about how it will turn out for you. Stress leads you to overanalyze and overthink, so it makes it much harder to complete the work quickly and efficiently. I was then able to apply what Olivier Rousteing had said, "You either like the style or you don't." to the idea about stress. When he said this I really thought about how straightforward you have the with yourself. Being indecisive is what really stresses someone out which makes everything harder. You have to know what you want and just do it and then decide later.

@Anayah Lewis I completely agree with you. That is something you can apply to your everyday life. When you put your heart and soul into something that you love, it doesn't and shouldn't matter what anyone else may think, because aside from the haters, if someone with the right head on their shoulders see that you put your blood, sweat, and tears into what they have done and they are super proud of their work, they would be just as proud. " There is no limits...I'm still learning things, discovering things, experimenting."

This statement is very sentimental to humans, because its something we should always keep in mind and live by. There is no end to what you love and could do. This statement fully captures the designer's style, is a very new fashion. Fashion is very hard to work with, what more adding other types of materials and fabric together. There were many concepts, such as the dye of crazy color and braiding which is a Balmain signature. He incorporated it to the fashion he wants to create, for a whole new type of collection. The vibe of a woman army, strong and confident is how it made the models feel.

I completely love the fact even though they were stresses to the point of panic, they kept a certain calm knowing they are going to get it done. They have been a team for so many years, and they all believe in the talented designer, they trust each other. There were seamstresses that been working there for more than a decade, but they still enjoy the work, they chose the industry that they love. Even though its a lot of work, it feels like they just started the work.

This documentary was very insightful. Its inspiring to see such a young designer become so successful, especially when he's in charge of preserving the integrity of the Balmain franchise. He presents himself with a composed demeanor that reflects the elegance of the brand. I think the reuse of previous designs to make new collections is a smart way to keep the main themes that surround the brand. Something that inspired me was also was "If you love your own collection, everyone will." That stuck with me because I'm usually judgemental of my work thinking that others won't like what I make. Oliver Rousteing provides quality content by following his own vision, knowing that as long as he trusts his gut, the product will be beautiful.

What inspired me about Oliver Rousteing is as a young designer it takes courage to wanted to get recognition from celebrities and he did. From J.Lo, Rihanna, and Kim Kardashian, he’s design is amazing that became the creative director of Balmain since 2011. Everybody that works for him needs to be working in a fast pace. Rousteing garments were outside the box something you don’t see any designer doing, the details into is admiring to look at. This may give me inspiration to having a 2nd career that I might want to look into later on which is being a stylish. However it takes time and having experience when it comes to you knowing what the client wants to wear.

Despite being so young he didn't fall into the pressure those around him brought. He found what he liked and stayed with it and didn't listen to people telling him to change. Not only is he a designer but on his own, he's an influencer. He has a clear vision and works hard to make that vision a reality. He focuses on the fabric and the simplest things, for example, gaining inspiration from the chairs he saw in Cuba and turned it into the inspiration for his garments. I have learned to work hard in fulfilling my vision and not letting what people say, distract me from achieving what I want.

Who is Oliver Rousteing ? He is a extremely talented young designer who designs are completely out of the box. He is the creative director of Balmain since 2011. Which is pretty impressive considering he was only 24. He is really strict with his work, And employees, everyone who works for him has to work in a fast environment. He stated “ if you love your own collection then everyone will” I love This quote because he’s basically saying only you need to love it, you need to create and make whatever makes you happy. He puts a lot of effort and can quickly get inspiration from almost anything. But what makes he’s design differently is the amount of time he puts in and how he focuses in every little detail. Making his garments and extremely good.

Something that I admired was how he said he was impatient but still managed to work through the process of creating garments in order to be considered couture. I learned that in order to become great at what you do, it takes courage to think outside the box while still staying true to yourself. Making the most of what is around him, he got inspiration and incorporated these ideas into designs that made a statement about him and the way he comes about these ideas. Rousteing has came a long way at a young age and that shows hard work does pay off.

I also became inspired by that quote because it shows that bringing your unique style into your garments shows not only creativity but pride in what you do. Each detail is his own and it represents his dedication to his career and the fashion world. Everyone contributed their part and I loved that they gave their all to create the best garment that can represent themselves in ways that make it beautiful.

"...Extremely fragile., I think. But he's also very determined..."
I think this is inspiring because it he is able to come successful with the help of determination. The video was the process that Olivier Rousteing goes through for an important moment in his career. The watcher of the video can see that he is stressed as the video went on and it can be seen that everyone was working hard and diligently to finish, with many difficulties and challenges that happened till the end of the show. His efforts were successful as him and his team were able to get overcome the obstacles and pull it off. With his flaws of not being confident, his determination and genius thinking was what helped him. This is something that people should think about, powering through their insecurities or uncertainties.

Oliver Rousteing is a young talented inspirational designer. He didn't let anybody around him break him and try and tell him what to do and what to not do. He found his voice and stuck with it. Even though he was impatient he didn't that affect his work negatively. He learned how to manage things in a proper manner to create beautifully constructed couture. He is someone who finds inspiration everywhere and uses his inspiration to think outside the box. He once was inspired by the detailing on a chair he saw in Cuba. It's really inspiring to see someone that you share traits with to use it for their advantage to be successful. I learned that its okay to be different and be your own unique person, thats what makes a good designer. -Kiara Franky

Oliver Rousting is one of the young person in the Fashion game. He’s super talented and he have a passion in what he does...when he Design something and bring it to life, it have to look perfect. Behind of he’s fashion he want to represent a women that is strong. I learn that if you want to be something and you are passionate, you can do it with hard work. Never giving up and always being yourself.

Olivier Roustin is a determined and passionate designer who wants his designs to stand out! He doesn't let people's negativity impact his work. He is very talented and works fast paced! I love the fact that he is his own person and wants to spread empowerment and individuality through his inspiration. As everyone has stated, he had his hardships, but he got through them which made him stronger. People who always keep their head up no matter what are always the ones who thrive and succeed as he did! A statement made which backs up my point is," One of the powers of fashion, you look in the mirror and suddenly feel strong and empowered. ", basically stating you give yourself power by how you see yourself! I can relate because the way I dress or how I perceive myself for the day is how I feel. If I don't have that strong looking outfit that makes me feel glamorous, I just feel like garbage.

I love how you elaborate on how his work is not affected by Olivier's stress and obstacles. You used the best quote to back your statement and I definitely agree that success comes from determination. I can relate to the quote myself through life I had to work hard in order to get what I wanted such as school.

For starters, one of the many statements that reached out to me was “ If you love your own collection then everyone would love it too." This puts an emphasis on the fact that self love is very essential because it brings positive results. In other words, it’s less likely to be self denial and nonetheless denied in general from your surroundings. This documentary has served as a foundation for my educational growth because it really goes to show us that we have to strive for what we want at all costs. Not only that but we should surround our selves with a very good support system that’ll be able to give you a helping hand whenever you need one. It’s quite inspiring to see someone hard work pay off. He is truly talented and gifted and knows exactly how to portray that onto his garments.

@ Naomi, I agree with you to a certain extent. I do believe people will work hard towards what they want, and the outcome would be just as good but in reality we all tend to have a a little bit of self doubt that can eventually stumble in our paths. Not only that but especially in the fashion industry, there’s just so much competition to keep up with.

@victoria I love How you said people who always keep their head up no matter what are the ones who always thrive. And it’s definitely true that whatever I wear Makes me feel a type of way. If I wanT to feel confident I dress up and make sure my hair and makeup is done. It’s just a way of expressing how you feel with out saying it.

Even though you did not put in a quote I did see the same as you when watching the video. I did see the difficulties and the pressure of the fashion industry and I agree that while did have some difficulties he was able to power through and being himself, especially at times, that he was able to come so far. The video was able to show how Olivier Rousteing was able to make it in the fashion industry.

“ Do you think he’s fragile? In some ways, yes, extremely fragile, I think. But he’s also very determined, to be where he is at his age. “

What I admire about Olivier is that he is a strong minded person. Throughout the constant challenges he faces, he managed to make his goals a reality. His determination and believing in himself are some reason that helped him, he knew what he was capable of and he showed us. This documentary helped my personal educational growth by reminding me that as long as your proud of what you accomplish then you made it. What I like about Olivier is that he is a hardworking person, because he had a lot of challenge but at the end, he reached his goal. He also never lets stress get to him because of you love something you don’t care what obstacles come your way. I also love that he admitted that he was a very impatient person but still managed to do what he loves which is to design clothes, I also love how his designs are out of the box because that shows his creativity. He also made fashionable clothing for many celebrities. For example, Olivier made fashionable clothing for Rihanna.

Oliver Rousteing is a talented young designer who designs are different compared to the other designers. He is the creative director of Balmain since 2011. He is really strict with his work, And employees, everyone who works for him has to work in a fast environment and get the work done immediately to have a bigger supply in products. Roustien has adapted a certain style over the years working with the Balmain label. A quote that stood out to me was, " One of the powers of fashion, you look in the mirror and suddenly feel strong and empowered. i really admire Olivier on how he wants everything to be exactly perfect and pleasingly aesthetic to look at. If something doesnt fit right or look right he will come up with a different approach on how to make it even better. Very much a perfectionist. Its so amazing how Olivier is 28 and he took over of this line of fashion that was to bring up pairs fashion after world war two its nice how he makes modern day cloths and he knows how to work around problems. His way of preparing for his models is cool he will just take one of his old sketches and make little details to turn it into something new and make it a continuation of is last collection is really nice.

Oliver is a young French fashion designer. He is now 34 years of age and has been creating clothing as a creative director for Balmain. In the documentary I watched about him I saw his passion. The way Oliver observes the clothes, on a mannequin, on a model, or even as its being designed, is like he is intrigued. He knows exactly what he wants and how he wants the clothes made from the material to the size. He is full of sketches and ideas. he has a fresh mind and view for Balmain and for the fashion industry. I admire Oliver's dedication to his work. Oliver even pays attention to what outfits look good on which model. It's amazing to see someone love their work. Personally, I like fashion but I don't have the patience and creative mind to be like Oliver. Watching this made me realise that I can pursue my dreams and passions no matter my age of the adversity I face.

In this documentary, I noticed that "although everyone was tired and stressed, they managed to keep a positive mindset". It showed me that even when things get tough or hard they have each other and they care about the design and finishing so much they will not let even a single negative mindset get in the way of accomplishing something so magnificent. They truly love their job and what they're doing that a negative thought doesn't even cross their mind cause they wouldn't wanna be anywhere else but with their team creating pieces they love. They don’t rush, they truly take their time and they have no problem staying extra to work on the designs. It’s inspiring to see team work so hard and truly love what they're doing and the people around them.

This Documentary was great because I already had a little bit of information on Balmain as far as the biker jeans and hoodies. Seeing this video motives me not for fashion but just for the career I personally want to take on, the reason I’m saying that is because seeing in the video the hardworking teaming being tired and yet still acting as if they just got there and they’re excited although they’re tired. Before seeing this I enjoyed the brand and after seeing it only made things better.

The quote "there is no traditional preparatory sketching and no draping on a model“, makes me realize that there is no preparation for designing, it comes naturally. Designing or sketching however you'd like to say it, it is an inspiration you get at any moment. There are no specific requirements that you must have to be skilled with such talent, it is something that just comes to you naturally. As you design, you start to have an idea of how it would look on the model and how to perfect it in your own way.

one statement that caught my eye was "basically, either you like the style or you don't. You cant go hmm." This statement shows that you have to love fashion to be a designer because you can’t one day love what you’re doing and then the next day not really like it because it making close just like we saw Oliver and his team in the video it’s a lot of work it takes days and hours to create pieces. A quote that I extracted from this video that really interested me was, "It's almost mechanics. You have to be a mechanic to do it because all the little rings need to be readjusted. It isn't easy. It's like a coat of armor. We're treating it like armor rather than clothing". This really interested me because it isn't easy to have to do so much work and he tries his best and is always so nervous before a show but, I do like how he makes every clothing look so great on his models and it fits their style perfectly. He is very successful at such a young age.- Jelany Lara Rodriguez

Olivier Rousting came off as a talented young man taking after a the brand "Balmain" making this a large accomplishment for the young man. With taking the brand name of "Balmain" Olivier Rousting has the pressure of standing up to the name of the original desiner Pierre Balmain. Throughout the documentary it shows how Olivier Rousting's job isn't as easy as it seems as told by his assistant, every collection he makes gets him stressed with last minute changes or clothing that doesn't fit the model properly. -jaylene Breton

What inspires me about Olivier Rousteing is how he is able to organize a group of people and work together to meet a deadline with so many problems that needed to be fixed. I have so much respect for Olivier Rousting and other designers out there after what I saw from the video. I knew that fashion was stressful but I didn't know that it took this much blood sweat and tears to really make and create a design or outfit. There's always that worry when making your design and thinking "will it fit on the model?", "is every stitch sewed to perfection?". Another thing I noticed about the video is that it's not just the design and outfits the workers have to focus on, it's the models as well. They must make sure it fits perfectly and that the model knows how to walk on the runway with the piece. Every single aspect of the work must be taken seriously in order for it to be successful. something i really liked was how Olivier was into the "military" look on the pieces he designs. It's really interesting to know that many designers out there have a certain "look" or "vibe" they want the world to see in their designs. - Lissette Alvarez

In the documentary, one of Olivier's colleagues refer to him as "fragile" and it is shown that he is prone to having anxiety before a show when inevitably something is bound to happen. Yet he is so talented and hard-working that it all pays off in the end when the show goes well. It truly shows in the documentary how skilled and determined Olivier is to make his designs come true in a really special way. This mention of his "fragileness" inspired me, even the most skilled and talented people in the fashion industry have their flaws and it makes me feel better knowing that it is normal to have flaws. Olivier's work is extraordinary and the way he makes the most unusual yet fitting fashion designs come to life is amazing, it truly shows how hardworking and focused he is.

The documentary was very interesting because you can see Olivier Rousting and how he is continuing the fashion of the original designer Pierre Balmain. And we can see how it is in a daily basis and that it’s really not as easy and if you really want to accomplish something you really do have to work hard for it but also have a positive mindset. Also something else I realized is that teamwork is very important to make something and make it better than it is, communication is important for the fashion industry as well. Lastly I think Olivier Rousting is very talented and the fact that when him and his crew are exhausted they always give their best and that is very difficult.

I think it’s amazing how he gets his work done with no excuses. i found it incredible how he has such a supportive team and they help him out no matter what. i also love how he didn’t let anything get in the way or ruining the show. Rihana was late and he thought “show must go on”. The fact that he didn’t want to show how anxious and nervous he was because he didn’t want to make the others feel it, show how thoughtful he is of others. It made me so happy when i saw how emotional they all got because all those hours of hard work really paid of in the end. - jatziri

Statement: "Model makers are in tears, days and nights of tension are finally let out"

I chose this statement because all the hard work, stitching, fixing the garments and trimming, readjusting measurements, it really paid off in the end. The show was a complete success, and they really persevered, working together! They were so stressed because they wanted the designs and the models to look immaculate and when the show finished, they were so emotionally moved by the masterpieces they and Olivier created. The harder you work for something (also the more you dream) and the more passionate or devoted to it I think you can make anything happen and at such a young age Olivier Rousting is such a dedicated and talented designer it really is wonderful! - Sarahcale Martinez

This statement that one of Rousting’s colleagues made really interested me because it makes you realize that your job plays a key role in shaping your levels of happiness. In the documentary video, you see that everyone is working together to help form the collection for Balmain and it was a huge success. This comes to shows that showing sense of meaningfulness can increase your engagement, performance and productivity.

Olivier Rousteing has been creative director of Balmain since 2011. Balmain is a very luxurious, high-end brand. Many celebrities around the world have made Balmain a part of their wardrobe. From the video, I can tell Rousteing is extremely creative and meticulous. He’s made designs with a totally different look than what you typically see out there. These fashion risks and large social presence makes it easy for him to set trends that influence the style of people all over the world. I also noticed how attentive he is to details. In the video, he spoke about having to paint a white dress yellow the night before the FW14 show with his team to add a pop of color to the overall vibe of the collection. The material of the clothing is very great quality as well. He said, “The FW14 women’s runway show was the beginning of so many things, I expressed a creative vision that I still push today.” This shows that his drive, determination, and undeniable talent has opened more doors for him throughout the years resulting in him connecting with all sorts of people in lots of different industries. I also love how all the pieces in the shows were all very unique but were cohesive and looked good together at the same time.

“There was not so much diversity, I remember that I was pushed so much, like agencies, casting directors to just change, to have a diverse casting.”
- This statement caught my attention a lot because of the fact he Sees diversity as an important role when it comes to the fashion industry and you can see that at times he wouldn’t play by the fashion rules but instead play by his own rules. He allowed diversity to become a big role and gave many people the opportunity to do that. Bringing in all types of different Things to just show that different is important and beautiful. he’s very determined in his work also and is always pushing himself to bring more color and design into the world of fashion and that’s what makes him stand out. I believe that Olivier's creative mind and movement can inspire me as an artist to help empower others through art and spread positivity. Something I liked about the designs were the colors and the fact that no two designs were the same everything was different and unique. Being that he pushed so hard to bring diversity into his work and the fashion industry in general, makes him a really strong designer, it shows how important it is to him and wants it to reflect that onto his art. Diversity isn’t the only thing important to him in his work but his attention to detail in his work while creating his designs, a lot of the people he worked with helped him come up with new ideas when coming up with new clothing pieces. Oliver Rousteing is the definition of hard working and creative, and because of this many celebrities want to work with him and know that they will have pieces that are different and aren’t something you’ll see everyday because he knows how to take fashion risks and that’s what’s makes him so noticeable in the fashion world

I like the fact that he was trying to change things, is better to see colors, figures, instead of seeing the same thing over and over. He created a divers amount of clothing with colorful designs and women with different ages and color skins. It makes it harder and challenging because he was trying to challenge the way the fashion industry work. It's so fascinating to see that he could work with Rihanna, he looked so exited to work with Rihanna. I like the changing of color that he did with the white dress that Kim Cardashian was wearing. At least to make it different, more extravagant.

I also admire the way he talks about the celebrities that he has worked with. For example when he met rihanna he "married" her and when he met kendall he says he fell in love with her.
