Airbrush alert !!!!!

Airbrush alert: UK wants to keep fashion ads real

Before After

Fashion Editor Ms. Sylvia Hui from Staten Island Advance wrote a very interesting article about how fashion ads airbrush women in magazines to make them look thinner. Fashion students & teachers I would like to hear your opinions about this. Feel free to post a comment.

I think the UK is starting a revolution that will hopefully influence fashion ads in the U.S.
People will begin to see their real identities featured in magazines and will accept themselves as they are. Bravo!!! UK

I think if the UK actually goes through with this idea it would make a huge and positive difference in the way people look at models!

i love the idea of no airbrushing is brilliant and revolutionary. people often identify and strive to be like the model on the magazine cover. well the models image is something fictional and is not really like that. No one has perfect skin! this will hopefully promote postive body image! yay!!!!

I think its a great idea. It will give us a good idea of how the models really look like. Having the models airbrushed just shows us what the industries want us to look like, other then that theres no positive point on airbrushing. 2 thumbs up for banning airbrushing. (if it comes true)

I think that would be a great idea. No one is perfect, and showing people in magazines who tend to look perfect will make people who think they are "ugly" feel bad about themselves. Hopefully showing how people really look in magazines will boost a lot of peoples self confidence. :)

I agree with Tiffany Ellis because it would make a huge difference in the way people look at models.

My opinion on this is that maybe they want their models to just look real and they are tired of having their models look so artificial.
Also, this could influenze their citizens and other people to model for their magazines.

I also agree with tiffany, Airbrushed models are ridiculous they should be shown for their natural beauty, that is why they became models not so they can be edited to look like something way different.

i think that UK should go with the idea because it will show people that natural is better than seeing people that are airbrushed.

If UK goes with this idea, magazine covers will be more unique and modelz will have more individual looks. This will provide an artistic view to many readers and bring something NEW to the eye.

I think banning the airbrushing of models would really be a huge impact within the fashion industry and it may influence into other media as well. This would really change the way people criticize others and the way in which they would like to look because at the end of the day it is all but an illusion.

I think banning the airbrushing of models would be a great idea because it would make a differnce on how people look at models they would see the real person not just a doll.

Airbrushing makes the model look fake and unhumnan like , this can appear as beautiful and appealing to young girls and may seem as the "norm" to them , this can damage their selfasteem because they might want to look just like the models . By the UK just putting up regular photos can really encourage young women to feel like their body's are normal and they are perfect just the way they are.

i think its a great idea for uk to stop air brushing and editing photos because it might help girls feel better about themseles because everyone has flaws.

i think the UK is making a revolution that will encourage the fashion design ads in the U.S. then from there people will see the features in newspapers and amagazines and then will except there selfs fro who they are and what they have in store =]

I am against airbrushing the models and actresses in magazines because they are regular people. Their self esteem may be afected in a negative way when they see that their "imperfections" were brushed out. They may strugle to try to have the "perfect" image that the media wants on their covers. - Elizabeth P

I Really Love This Idea. Most People Want To Be The People They See In Magazines They Flip Through When They Arent Really What They Seem To Be. Things Like This Would Change People's Views On Things Like,Im Too Fat, Too Skinny, Ugly & ETC. And They Would Be ABle To Really Realize Celebrities & People In The Magazines Are Just Like Everyone Else !

I think airbrushing gives people a hope that one day they could look like them which in many cases is a false hope. Airbrushing gives the impression that the person or model isn't pretty to start with. I think that maybe other magazines should follow the UK maybe it will lead to a fashion revolution.

No airbrushing is the way to actually see the way product work. Like if your trying to sell cosmetics its better showing your client the really thing, then to show them something thats not even close to how the product or the model's real features, and you get to see there true beauty.

I think airbrushing models are wrong. I think every woman should be happy of their own skin, body, and tone. So why dont we show that on magazines?
